Siemenssteg was built in 1900 together with the electric company, not only as a footbridge but also to direct the wiring to Charlottenburg. Two years after opening, it was named after Werner von Siemens, who lived nearby. Siemenssteg is one of Berlin’s well-preserved footbridges spanning the Spree.
