Schlesisches Tor was one of 18 city gates of a wall surrounding Berlin from the 18th to the 19th century, until its demolition. Although the gate does not exist anymore, the junction at its former location has kept the name. Today, it is very popular thanks to its boutiques, culture and nightlife.

Koawach – Berlin Startup Producing Energy Cacao Powder

koawach is the first brand of delicious energy cacao powder, a 100% natural fair tra de innovation. The chocolaty alternative to coffee is made from fine Latin American cacao and contains the energy of guarana, a caffeine-containing plant from Brazil. koawach offers six different flavors: four containing guarana and two without it. Transparent and direct trade as well as organic farming is part of koawach’s company culture. With this view, they want to contribute to the protection of the environment and the realization of better working and living standards in the source countries. The founders of koawach have a passion for sustainable products and for Latin America. Daniel Duarte is Colombian and Heiko Butz studied in that country. In summer 2013, they started creating the first drinking chocolates in their own student kitchen. In 2014, they founded koakult GmbH, owner of koawach. Today, koawach is available in more than 200 stores and cafés all over Germany and online.
