Co-Founder and CEO of Outfittery
Q: How does it feel to run your own business?
A: It is amazing to experience that nothing is impossible!
Always be optimistic!
I’d been working for Rocket Internet when I met my future co-founder, Julia, and out of our work grew a strong friendship. For her birthday, we went to New York together. There, we met a friend of ours who had hired a personal stylist for $100 per hour. Our friend had never been a big fan of shopping, but this time he was really happy and looked amazing afterwards. In that moment, the idea for Outfittery hit us. We thought that every man should have access to his own personal stylist at an affordable price.
When we were back in Germany, we put our heads together and brainstormed. I had always wanted to run my own business – even moreso after my time at Rocket Internet. Of course there were many skeptics saying that this service would only appeal to a niche audience, but those naysayers never made us change our mind. Today, Outfittery is the market leader in personal shopping. Always be optimistic and don’t let others make you doubt your own business idea. The thing that provided me with a real sense of safety was having a trustworthy business partner. It is important to believe in your team and trust your gut feeling.

Anna studied in Freiburg and Paris, and started her career at Rocket Internet in Berlin. She was head of IT at a Swiss online company before she fulfilled her dream of starting Outfittery.
