Q: What drives you crazy?

A: Men drive me crazy! 🙂

Let your hobbies be your fuel

I’ve always been intrigued by new things, places and people, although I never thought I would become an entrepreneur. I studied macroeconomics, and if somebody would have asked me about my career path, my answer would’ve been the opposite of ‘startup founder’. But upon returning from a summer working in the United States, I co-founded a travel agency while I was still a student. I haven’t looked back since.

Founding a company has allowed me the freedom to decide what I want to do in life. I’m always searching for the next endeavor, and my driving forces are sports, traveling and my family. As a kid, I was a competitive swimmer. Water and ocean have always kept me calm as a form of meditation in this hectic life. Travel is like reading books to me – it’s my fuel for new ideas and projects. Last but not least, my family is my safe harbor.

In both my private and business life, I go where my heart leads me. I do the things I am passionate about and surround myself with like-minded people.

Anushka Beltram, 38, studied at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and started her own travel agency 15 years ago. She has since turned it into one of the biggest market players in Central Europe. In 2015, she began TravelStarter – an innovative crowdfunding platform in the tourism industry – after becoming interested in crowdfunding technologies. It helps small businesses raise money while also giving tourists authentic and unique travel experiences.
