Highlight of the year: First blockchain IoT sensor installation in the field

Interview with ubirch

What inspired you to found your startup?

I installed connected Christmas lights in the tree in front of my house. They would blink everytime the tree got mentioned on Twitter. This told me how IoT can fundamentally change everyday objects and the way we interact with them.

How are you different? What is your unique value proposition?

We are bridging the gap between the blockchain and the real world.

How do you define success for yourself and your company?

We define success by the number of meaningful innovations that will be driven based on our technology.

What do you want to achieve next year?

We want to be number one at getting real-world Blockchain cases on the street.

Why do people want to work at your company?

Because they have the feeling that we are working on something significant.

What has been the most important milestone so far?

Our most important milestone was to figure out the essence of what we want to be, and to give up on anything else.

Looking back at your whole development story — what makes you most proud?

That we did not give up.

Where do you see your company in 5 years?

We will be one of the leading companies that are called when IoT business cases need to be implemented.

What is your impression of the german startup scene? Would you change anything?

I’d like to see less copycat and e-commerce and more deep-tech startups.
