What inspired you to found your startup?
The initial idea was based on Claude looking for help to assemble a shelf. It would have been very cool to be able to simply book somebody to help with the assembly instantly. We agreed that the services space in general is not digitised yet and we decided to start with cleaning as a first vertical. Little did we know that cleaning is actually more complex that we though so we are still mostly focussed on the cleaning vertical.
How do you define success for yourself and your company?
Providing a service that makes our customers happy. Being a good partner for the service companies that we work with. Providing a workplace for our employees that they enjoy going to every day.
Is there anything you’d do differently if you could do it again?
Start with a smaller budget for the first 12 months and increase spend later.
What problem does your product solve?
Book A Tiger enables customers to access facility related services, such as office cleaning, in a easy and seamless way. No more faxing contracts, paper feedback forms or week-long ramp up periods. We turn facility services into a 21st century experience by providing a digital interface for customers and a platform that streamlines processes for a better overall service experience.
Where do you see your company in 1/5/10 years?
1 Year: BOOK A TIGER will be recognised in the facility management space as clear digital leader. 5 Years: We will be managing multiple large objects, such as airports and compete with large incumbent facility management companies. 10 Years: We are an internationally recognised facility management companies with multinational customers.
How are you different?
There is no other digital facility management company out there. We provide a a customer interface and a partner platform that no other large incumbent has or can build in a short period of time.
How often does your product/service show up in a user’s day or week?
Depending on the frequency our services are booked, up to every day.
Impact: how are you doing good and building a better future?
We are combatting the black market in the cleaning industry by working with employed cleaners and by paying our partner companies fairly so that they in turn are able to fairly compensate their employees.
How has the startup scene in Berlin changed?
It has grown massively. More money, more companies, more events. Also the level of sophistication in all areas has increased by a magnitude.
What are the pros and cons of launching your startup from Berlin?
Many pros, few cons (shitty airport situation).
Book A Tiger was featured in “The Hundert Vol. 10 – Startups of Berlin“, October 2017.
