Interview with evopark


What inspired you to found your startup?

While studying together, one of the four founders came back from a trip to France. Seeing the toll-collection systems on highways, he came up the idea to use the same technology to allow for seamless parking in car parks. Our main motivation is to tackle an everyday problem using modern technology.


How are you different? What is your unique value proposition?

evopark provides end-to-end solutions, covering the whole customer journey in parking. From search, seamless entry and exit, to cashless payment, we allow our part-ners to offer a variety of scalable smart parking products to their consumers.


How do you define success for yourself and your company?

In our opinion, success for a startup is having the maximum impact on our daily lives while establishing an economically reasonable business model. As founders, we want to create a company that offers great products, is an awesome place to work, and has a sound financial strategy.


What do you want to achieve next year?

Expanding our SaaS solution portfolio and entering the first international markets.


Why do people want to work at your company?

evopark addresses an everyday problem that almost everybody can relate to. That is what motivated our team to join evopark. A challenging market, highly skilled colleagues, and an open and honest company culture are what keep us pushing forward.


What has been the most important milestone so far?

Launching the first end-to-end digital parking solution back in December 2014.


Looking back at your whole development story — what makes you most proud?

When we started back in 2014, seamless parking was a very rare thing in Germany. Today, almost every car park operator and mobility provider has the topic on its agenda. evopark managed to become a true industry leader in parking.


Where do you see your company in 5 years?

Providing our solutions on a global scale to a large number of parking operators and mobility providers.


What is your impression of launching a startup from your based city?

The startup scene in Cologne is still quite small. However, the open culture, the many skilled people, and the central location within Germany provide a very good ground for launching a startup here.


What is your impression of the german startup scene? Would you change anything?

Taking more risks and having a rather global perspective in mind might allow for even more internationally successful startups.
