What inspired you to found your startup?
I’ve been working in the supply chain industry for more than 5 years, so the idea is purely based on experience. Toda,y data exchange in supply chain management is fragmented, slow, and dominated by data information silos and manual processes. We’ve had to solve many operational problems daily.
How are you different? What is your unique value proposition?
Besides optimizing workflow for all parties involved, Evertrace provides a tailored solution for insurance companies. The platform automates the entire cargo insurance lifecycle, from underwriting and risk assessment to claims management, providing insights into risk exposure in real time.
How do you define success for yourself and your company?
It’s a tough challenge to introduce a solution for optimizing supply chain processes. Players are reluctant to accept any change because that means operational uncertainty for them. We need to make our solution scalable, reliable and easy to use. When we achieve it, it will be a success.
What do you want to achieve next year?
We aim to win several international insurance companies as our partners, to complete a second, large-scale pilot project, and to launch our MVP in Q1/Q2 2019 with at least 2 partners: a freight forwarder and an insurance company.
Why do people want to work at your company?
We address a real problem, aiming to prevent cargo damage and to reduce information silos. Supply chain is an exciting topic; it’s dynamic and global! In our tech stack, we use the latest technologies like blockchain. We experiment. We’re experienced founders with a good sense of humor and secure funding.
What has been the most important milestone so far?
We completed a pilot project together with +D Consortium and consortium members in July 2018. We also won one of the top 20 international freight forwarders as our partner for device management, development of new data-driven services for shippers, and an introduction of cargo insurance products
Looking back at your whole development story — what makes you most proud?
We’ve made great strides, but, in order to be proud, there is still a lot of work to be done. We are definitely happy that large international companies, both freight forwarders and insurers, are interested in cooperating with us.
Where do you see your company in 5 years?
We envision Evertrace as the single platform for communication of all parties involved, with a variety of financial services, data-driven products and tracking solutions. A global network of partner-based win-win relationships. We want a healthy company culture with a real impact on the processes.
What is your impression of launching a startup from your based city?
I don’t think there is a better place for us to launch this business! Germany is an international logistics hub. Berlin has a great vibe, a concentration of early-stage investors, and is developing a deep tech ecosystem. We do travel a lot to meet customers, though: Hamburg for the logistics industries.
What is your impression of the german startup scene? Would you change anything?
The scene is developing rapidly. Berlin is becoming a blockchain capital of Europe. Corporates are learning to work together with startups. There is a great base for deep tech solutions. However, the risk aversion of investors and European-specific mentality holds back the development of the scene.
