How has the startup scene in Berlin changed?
We have been working in the Berlin based startup scene for 2 years now, so we have only limited historical experience, but it is visible that more and more successful founders turn to be angel investor, mentor and helping the next generation of entrepreneurs, which is a solid basis of a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem. The expectation/mental gap between startups and corporates is also disappearing step-by-step which was one of the success factor behind Silicon Valley for instance.
What are the pros and cons of launching your startup from Berlin?
There is a great talent pool in Berlin which is great. We also got a lot of support from mentors experienced in the automotive scene. Access to corporates is really helpful. Regarding the difficulties, business administration takes a lot of time and effort while managing a German company. Early stage technology risk aversion from the investors, which is kind of embedded in the German culture is something which could be a barrier of the development in between the post-accelerator and seed phase.
