Highlight of the year: Partnering with gaming leader, Razer, to debut advanced haptic technology.

Interview with Lofelt

What inspired you to found your startup?

For decades, audio-visual technologies have benefited from exponential innovation and growth. It became clear that haptics had been lagging behind. Lofelt was founded to elevate haptics to a higher standard and significantly enhance user experiences in consumer devices.

How are you different? What is your unique value proposition?

Due to limitations in the technologies used, traditional haptic technologies are only capable of reproducing dull buzzes and shakes. Lofelt has developed advanced software and unique hardware that are capable of recreating natural, lifelike haptic sensations for enhanced user experiences.

How do you define success for yourself and your company?

Lofelt is recognized as a leader in natural haptics for all of our favorite devices. We transformed user experiences across entire industries and created new product categories. We elevated haptics to the same high standards of today’s audio and visual technologies. That is success for Lofelt.

What do you want to achieve next year?

We want to continue partnering with innovative companies that see the true potential of advanced haptics to deliver superior user experiences. Expect to see haptics by Lofelt in a wide range of industries and products as we continue to collaborate with leading brands around the globe.

Why do people want to work at your company?

Lofelt is energetic, with talents from 15 countries. We innovate a key tech impacting many industries. We work with agile methods to build high-performance, cross-platform teams with expertise in physics, mechanical/electrical engineering, software development, signal processing and material science.

What has been the most important milestone so far?

Teaming up with Razer has been an incredible opportunity for us to demonstrate the value of the cutting-edge technology we develop. The launch of the Razer Nari Ultimate wireless gaming headset, featuring haptics by Lofelt, puts us at the forefront of realizing the true potential of advanced haptics.

Looking back at your whole development story — what makes you most proud?

We’ve built a small, talented team that’s disrupting an industry that hasn’t innovated in almost 30 years. We’ve tackled many challenges and made substantial technological advancements that will impact many industries, as well as raise people’s standards for haptic feedback in their favorite devices.

Where do you see your company in 5 years?

Lofelt will be the leader in advanced haptics, pioneering new technologies and providing natural user experiences to a wide range of industries and devices. People will expect haptics by Lofelt in their favorite devices, just as they expect hi-fi audio and high-definition (HD) video.

What is your impression of launching a startup from your based city?

Berlin is a vibrant city with many talented creatives, creating a dynamic community and supportive startup ecosystem. It is also home to the world’s leading audio technology companies, building up a talent pool that’s highly relevant for upcoming technology startups.

What is your impression of the german startup scene? Would you change anything?

The startup scene in Germany is maturing and attracting even more talent, attention and investment opportunities. The German VC landscape is lacking the ability to support emerging deep tech projects, particularly in the hardware space.
