What inspired you to found your startup?

Actually, I was looking for a solution to easily manage my own insurance policies, in a way that is more digital and transparent. I couldn’t find anything like it in the market, so that’s how I came up with the idea of CLARK: managing your insurance easily and digitally through smartphone or computer.

How are you different? What is your unique value proposition?

Since our launch in 2015, we invested a huge part of our resources and energy into the development of our consulting technology. This is what makes us truly unique. It enables us to offer efficient counselling with maximum scalability.

How do you define success for yourself and your company?

Success, for us, means to improve the insurance situation for our clients. It doesn’t matter if we enable our clients to save money, to improve their insurance coverage, or to process a damage case. We see it all as success.

What do you want to achieve next year?

Currently, growth and increasing awareness of our brand is a top priority. Considering that, we are planning to invest more in TV advertisement, digital marketing, and bank partnerships in the upcoming months.

Why do people want to work at your company?

Our team consists of people from over 28 countries. Each and every one of our employees has a great impact on the digitalization of the insurance market, which hasn’t always been favorable to its customers in the past.

What has been the most important milestone so far?

It’s hard to pin down our rapid growth in the past 3 years on one huge milestone. It is more the accumulation of little steps that led us to become the successful startup that we are today.

Looking back at your whole development story — what makes you most proud?

In the past 3 years, we have become the leading insurance broker in Germany. We take pride in shaping the insurance situation of about 100,000 customers in a digital and innovative way.

Where do you see your company in 5 years?

In 5 years we want to be the biggest insurance broker in Germany, and consequently to establish digital insurance management in Europe as the new standard.

What is your impression of launching a startup from your based city?

In hindsight, Frankfurt was the ideal place to start CLARK, due to its close proximity to leading banks and insurance companies. We’re happy to be part of the Frankfurt startup scene.

What is your impression of the german startup scene? Would you change anything?

The german startup scene has evolved greatly in the past few years. Still, a german silicon valley with easy access to capital, open exchange and international recognition value would be highly desirable.
