What inspired you to found your startup?
We have noticed the 200.000 Dutch people who have been using pluggable solar energy systems after a revision of the relevant standards. As there will be no such revision for pluggable appliances which generate and store electricity in the near future, our solution addresses this market.
How are you different? What is your unique value proposition?
Ready2plugin is the only system to solve a physical problem encountered wherever electricity is fed into unknown circuits at an input of 1,840 watts. Ready2plugin removes electric security risks, does not require an electrician, and overcomes legal grey areas.
How do you define success for yourself and your company?
Every connected pv module replaces 250kg worth of coal-based power generation p.a.. Ready2plugin allows straightforward use of surface area for the integration of pv generators, provides tenant electricity models not incurring any surcharge as stipulated in EEG and offset the lack of electrician.
What do you want to achieve next year?
We will offer an affordable energy management system through indielux, allowing an upgrade to all plug play generators on the market. We have also entered into development partnerships with producers of inverters, ensuring that “ready2plugin inside” inverters will soon be on the market.
Why do people want to work at your company?
Ready2plugin allows us to interpret ‘value creation’ both economically and ecologically. This rare combination makes us highly attractive as employers.
What has been the most important milestone so far?
Winning “The Smarter E Award 2018,” which is the most prestigious award at the INTERSOLAR exposition. This is the world’s leading fair for the solar industry and its partners, and the official jury assessed our system as “an important step in the democratization of the energy transition.”
Looking back at your whole development story — what makes you most proud?
The debut of our prototype at the INTERSOLAR Exposition.
In addition, our CEO played a central role in opening the German standard for pluggable solar devices. For his work, Marcus received the PV Magazine Award and together with the DGS task force the Georg Salvamoser Preis, a high-paying environment award.
Where do you see your company in 5 years?
We plan to focus on third-party systems. That means we will sell license fees to B2B market participants for the ready2plugin algorithm to integrate fully within their own systems (inverter, energy management and smart home systems).
What is your impression of launching a startup from your based city?
Currently operating offices in three locations in three city districts, we particularly enjoy the ready availability of public transport.
What is your impression of the german startup scene? Would you change anything?
More space for substantive talks, fewer 3 minutes pitch events.
ready2plugin was featured in “The Hundert Vol. 10 – Startups of Germany“, November 2018.
