Rhona Togher
Co-Founder and CEO of
Restored Hearing,

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: Cultivating a community of people passionate about hearing and noise issues.

The reward is the impact you have

While in high school, I developed an interest in hearing issues due to my own personal challenges with tinnitus. This led to my co-founder and I developing a sound therapy for people with chronic tinnitus. We took it to an Irish science fair and were amazed by the interest and support. At 18, I co-founded my company, Restored Hearing, to bring this therapy to the public. It was a big step, but we were excited by the challenge. Over the past six years, our website has grown to have thousands of users and followers. Utilizing our physics backgrounds, we created a new type of sound absorbing material that works eight times better than the standard foam currently being used to prevent overexposure to loud noise. We are passionate about innovative medical technology and have relentlessly researched, built and promoted our inventions. Having had tinnitus myself, I empathize with those who have it. Being able to now have an impact on how others go about their daily lives is extremely touching. I want to change the way the world hears.

Rhona Togher is 25 years old, living in Dublin and is currently on a sabbatical from a physics degree. Restored Hearing was founded in 2009 and now has five employees. Restored Hearing helps people manage their tinnitus through sound therapy and provides tunable acoustic materials that reduce harmful noise in industry.
