Interview with Synfioo

What inspired you to found your startup?

We evolved out of a research project at Hasso-Plattner-Institute – when one of the industry partners said, they would buy our piece of software if it was available on the market, we knew we would go for it.

How do you define success for yourself and your company?

We consider Synfioo a success when we reach a good portion of the logistics market and still have fun at work.

Is there anything you’d do differently if you could do it again?

I wish I would have known some hard learned lessons earlier.

What problem does your product solve?

In transport logistics, there is a lack of transparency and data integration between logistics partners and the outside world. Synfioo connects transport managers with all available data and makes it usable and actionable on operations level. Synfioo also allows transparent communication throughout the whole transport chain.

Where do you see your company in 1/5/10 years?

Synfioo aims to be the industry standard for arrival time predictions and early incident notifications.

How are you different?

Synfioo’s ETA prediction is the only service that takes into the account the whole transport chain, including truck, train, ship and airplane segments as well as time spent in transit infrastructure like harbours.

How often does your product/service show up in a user’s day or week?

The Synfioo service warns the user every time one of the transports is at risk of being delayed and offers means to handle the situation.

Impact: how are you doing good and building a better future?

Synfioo helps transport managers to focus on those transports that require action and establishes greater transparency throughout the whole supply chain.

How has the startup scene in Berlin changed?

It’s growing and getting more mature. And recently, the logistics domain has become more attractive for experienced startup founders.

What are the pros and cons of launching your startup from Berlin?

Pro: a very good ecosystem and inspiring founders and companies nearby.
Con: lack of big industry players, especially (headquarters of) logistics companies.

Synfioo was featured in “The Hundert Vol. 10 – Startups of Berlin“, October 2017.
