Even today many patients can’t effectively be treated with the standard of care. Most patients don’t want to wait several years until new therapies become available. They want to take action. Viomedo’s vision is to empower patients and researchers to realise the future of medicine. Their leading clinical trials platform connects patients in need with medical research, by matching the right patient with the right trials and facilitating their effective enrollment. Website

Interview with Viomedo

What inspired you to found your startup?

While developing a therapeutic in 2014, the team discovered that the way clinical trials were conducted was highly inefficient. Patients told the founders that, despite their interest, they didn’t have access to trials. On the other side, as researchers it was really hard to find the right patients. It was really clear the both sides were searching for each other and that there was a real potential to help patients and accelerate the development of better therapies.

How do you define success for yourself and your company?

Viomedo empowers patients and researchers to realise the future of medicine. Success is every step that takes us closer to realising this vision.

Is there anything you’d do differently if you could do it again?

I’d set up a structured hiring process earlier on and hired an office assistant faster.

What problem does your product solve?

Most patients currently cannot access clinical trials, despite their demand. According to a survey of cancer patients, 85% were either unaware or unsure that participation in a clinical trial was an option, while 75% of these patients said they would have enrolled in a trial had they known it was possible. For researchers, patient recruitment represents the biggest challenge and the number one cause for the exponential increase in cost and timelines for the development of new therapies.

Where do you see your company in 1/5/10 years?

1 year: Viomedo is the best clinical trials platform for patients and researchers across DACH and 2 other EU markets.
5 years: We use our data and software to expand researchers’ potential and help them develop better therapies faster and provide patients anywhere a voice in medical research.
10 years:– Viomedo is a key solution that empowers patients and researchers to realise the future of medicine.

How are you different?

Viomedo’s online platform combines unique technology with best-in- class usability and top service for patients, investigators and sponsors. Viomedo offers, in one source, access to all available trials. Our patient–trial matching system removes access barriers for patients and provides them the choice they need. The system is easy to use for researchers and creates value without adding additional overhead.

How often does your product/service show up in a user’s day or week?

Physicians use our platform multiple times per week.

Impact: how are you doing good and building a better future?

Viomedo’s improve people’s lives by connecting patients in need with cutting-edge research in order to advance medical practice together. Our solution significantly accelerates patient recruitment by effectively connecting both sides. This is how we help better therapies reach the patients in need faster.
